The Okaloosa County School District ranked #8 in Florida (out of 67 School Districts) in 2021, #7 in 2022, #5 in 2023!

Destin Elementary School, located at 630 Kelly St., has been an A+ school for 22 consecutive years. Destin Middle School, located at 4608 Legendary Marina Dr., is also an A+ school. Both are both designated as Purple Star Schools. This means they support the exceptional needs of military families and students, providing needed resources for those moving into a new school.

Destin High School is a charter school, which opened in August 2020, graduating its first class of seniors in 2023. It offers academies in Business/Entrepreneurship, Commercial Fishing/Captain's License Prep, Biomedical Sciences, and Cyber/IT.

Destin students also attend Fort Walton Beach High School, located at 400 Hollywood Blvd. S.W., or Niceville High School, located at 800 E. John Sims Pkwy.

Northwest Florida State College is also found in Niceville. The University of West Florida and Troy University both have campuses in Fort Walton Beach.
