Destin is located within the Okaloosa County School District, which is a Florida A+ high performing district. Destin Elementary School, located at 630 Kelly St., has been an A+ school for 13 years, while Destin Middle School, located at 4608 Legendary Marina Dr., has been an A+ school fo 13 years. Destin Middle School's students ranked 1st in math, 2nd in reading, 1st in writing, and 2nd in science in the county, based on 2008 FCAT scores.
Most Destin students attend Fort Walton Beach High School, located at 400 Hollywood Blvd. S.W., or Niceville High School, located at 800 E. John Sims Pkwy.
Northwest Florida State College is also found in Niceville. The University of West Florida and Troy University both have campuses in Fort Walton Beach.
