Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance
A portion of race proceeds will benefit the Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance (CBA) of Northwest Florida State College. The CBA is an organization committed to sustaining and providing optimum utilization of the Choctawhatchee Basin watershed. The health of our water resources is the foundation of our identity and our economy. Be it fishing, tourism, or our quality of life, everything revolves around a healthy watershed. For almost 17 years, CBA has been providing opportunities that empower citizens to take personal responsibility for the health and sustainable use of the Choctawhatchee watershed. It accomplishes this through a monitoring program, restoration projects and community education, implemented by a small staff and many volunteers. Its programs harness the dedication of community volunteers that restore critical habitat and generate valuable long-term data at fraction of the true cost, all the while educating and engaging the public. As environmental and man-made processes continue to impact the health of our water resources, local citizens need to become active stewards of our water resources to ensure that future generations can enjoy them. For more information about CBA programs, please visit www.basinalliance.org or like it on FACEBOOK.

The CBA received a grant to design, engineer, and build treatment for stormwater run off at the race's start/finish line - Clement Taylor Park in Destin. Read more about that project here.
