BUILD Mentor Relationship Spotlight
BUILD is pleased to shine the spotlight on one of our mentoring relationships. Jamie Gummere, an ECEL Advisory Board Member, and Kriss Titus were recently paired through the Leadership Walton 2008 class.
“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” I think if I were to paraphrase mentorship, it would be this quote by Winston Churchill. You see, I’m passionate about self-improvement. I’m a sponge for knowledge, a seeker of wisdom, and an appreciator of worldly experience. Upon my first meeting with Kriss, we discussed the areas in my life that could stand a little tweaking (to say the least)! Throughout our discussions, whatever they may be, she reminds me to stay focused on my goals. Her ideas, advice, and experience that she shares will stay with me throughout the course of my professional career. I believe the most successful people in life surround themselves with anyone they can learn from. Though Leadership Walton has connected our paths, I believe that Kriss and I will continue our relationship. I joke about giving my “testimonial” for mentoring, but I feel it’s one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had. It’s the kind of experience that not only helps me in my day-to-day decisions but also helps to mold me to be the best person I can be in the future.
