Mosaics

Create your own unique Mosaic design with instructor Katheline Nehus.

You may bring a memento or your own materials to incorporate into your mosaic.

Date/Time: Tuesdays, November 8 & 15
(2-part class) 5:00 p.m - 8:00 p.m.          

Fee:  $20; ($15 Museum Members) 

Plus a one-time $10 fee to instructor for materials and use of tools.                                     

Knitting

Learn the fun and useful craft of knitting with instructor Carol Burkhard.

Students will learn basic stitches and begin a simple project.  
(13 yrs old & up)

Yarn will be provided, but bring your own size 8 circular or short straight needles.

Basket Weaving

Learn how to make the Seagrass and Twined Pouch with Carol Dickson.  It can be decorated for Christmas, with shells and raffia or kept neutral to use all year long. It makes a great gift as well.  The basket can be left natural or stained with a black walnut stain that would give the basket a brown color.

Seat Weaving Workshop  

Date/Time: Beginning January 5, 2017 (1p - 3p)

Bring your old chair for a free consultation to find out what it will take to make your old chair look new again!

Fee per session:  $10; ($8 Museum Members)

Plus a one-time $10 fee per chair to instructor for materials and use of tools.                          

Phil Richter will teach participants to replace the seats on their own chairs.  Weaving styles to be taught include the classical cane open weave, closed weave of fiber rush common on ladder-back chairs, and herringbone pattern using flat or oval reed. Some chairs & stools are available for learning.

Writing Your Memoirs

Preserve your personal history for posterity by learning how to record your memoirs. Published author Angela Yuriko Smith will be teaching this two hour workshop that will include finding editors, how to get your book on Amazon and finding the right words for a new generation.

Painting

Learn how to paint beautiful seasonal art with Estelle Grengs! Estelle is a self-taught, folk art painter born and raised in Dover, New Hampshire. Come let her help you paint your own unique design.

Loom Weaving

Try It!  Weave on a loom with Sandy Sutton! Experience the joy of weaving by making a small project on a prewarped tabletop or inkle loom in just a few hours. You'll learn how to wind bobbins, throw and catch the shuttle, change the shed to create a pattern and create beautiful fabric. Plus you'll receive an overview of looms, weaving, vocabulary and the world of weaving. 

Space is limited! 

Participants will be assigned looms based on preference and on a first come, first serve basis.

Date/Time: Tuesday, January 31, 2017  (5p - 8p)

Fee:  $70; ($65 for Museum Members)

Plus a one time $15 fee to instructor for materials.
