Since 2000, Ronda Davenport has worked steadfastly along with her protégés to raise millions of dollars for those in need in our community. As the Vice President of Resource Development and an enthusiastic “cheerleader” for United Way of Okaloosa and Walton Counties, she has been a catalyst for creating, sharing, and executing Okaloosa and Walton United Way campaigns. She has helped inspire loaned executives from local businesses and not-for-profits to be additional voices for those campaigns. Her efforts have impacted many thousands of local residents facing a wide-ranging spectrum of struggles and challenges.
Now this person who has spent so much of her life working to help others, finds herself in need. In May of this year, Ronda was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Once word spread, a number of community leaders, including many whose organizations are recipients of United Way funding, joined together to give back to her and her family. We know how hard she is fighting to get on the road to recovery. We are fighting with her too. We are determined to make sure her family has the financial means to help take care of her during this extremely difficult time financially, spiritually, and emotionally.
To that end, we are hosting a fundraiser - and because Ronda LOVES bling – we are calling it “Rhinestones for Ronda”! It takes place Thursday, October 27th from 6:00 pm. to 9:00 p.m. at the Ramada Inn’s Ambassador Room. They have generously donated their venue. Attendees will enjoy an evening of food, beverages, and an opportunity to participate in a live and silent auction to raise funds and show their loving support for Ronda and her family.
There are many opportunities to be involved and help with this great event. Perhaps you would consider donating a live or silent auction item, donate food or make a monetary donation.
It’s our turn to give back to a very special lady who has given selflessly for many years for others in our community. We ask that you please consider supporting Rhinestones for Ronda!
