August 8 Beach Restoration RallyDestin Area Chamber Press Release
Destin, FL, July 22 - Across the county and throughout the world, Florida's Emerald Coast is celebrated for its emerald-green waters and snow-white sand as fine as powder. Unfortunately, the last few years brought the erosive forces of several tropical storms and hurricanes to our shores. Today, the formerly large expanses of beaches are almost non-existent. In countless phone calls and emails to the Destin Area Chamber of Commerce, the community is vocalizing its alarm.
On August 8 at 5:15 p.m., the Chamber is asking the community to join us in a positive, pro-Destin, beach restoration rally at James Lee Park, the public beach beside The Crab Trap restaurant. The rally's purpose is to let our leaders and our region know Destin supports the rebuilding of our beaches. Community leaders will speak on the next steps in accomplishing the proposed beach restoration. The Chamber is asking the community to bring family, friends, signs, and banners to show support.
Together, we will make Destin a world-class community and ensure its economic vitality.
