Destin Area Chamber Rewards Non-Profits
Destin, FL, Nov. 10 - The Destin Area Chamber of Commerce awarded $8,000 to local non-profits during November's Business to Business Breakfast on Nov. 10, 2005. The donations were in return for time each group volunteered at admission and token booths during the recent Destin Seafood Festival Oct. 7-9, 2005.
Chamber Chair-Elect Kevin Bowyer, O'Sullivan Creel, LLP, and Seafood Festival Co-Chair Debbie Woolman, Copy Systems Business Center, Inc., distributed checks to the non-profit organizations.
Those receiving donations included the Destin Kiwanis Club, Destin Rotary Club, Emerald Coast FurEver Friends, Emmanuel Youth Group, Greyhound Pets of America, Noah's Ark, Okaloosa Walton Readers, Wildlife Rehabilitators Partnership of NW Florida, Inc., and the YMCA.
"This was our way of making the festival a true community event. Non-profits are always looking for partnerships to raise money for their organizations. The Chamber is always looking for partnerships to make our events better. Paying these non-profits to work the Seafood Festival was a perfect mix. And for the Chamber to be able to give 8,000 back to the community through these organizations created partnerships that benefit the community as a whole," said Shane Moody, Chamber President & CEO.
