Winners of Holiday on the Harbor Middle School Art Contest Announced
Destin, FL, Nov. 30 - From harbor boats all aglow and sunburned Santas to snow-buried sleighs and fishy wise men, this year's Holiday on the Harbor Middle School Art Contest entries proved a tough lot to judge.
Students from three schools, including Bruner Middle School, Lewis Middle School, and Pryor Middle School, entered 14 paintings on 2'x4' wooden boards.

"Merry Christmas" by Sammie Alexander and Britni Martin
The first place winner is "Merry Christmas" from Lewis Middle School. Artists Sammie Alexander and Britni Martin created a scene of boats and the docks in Destin Harbor all dressed in lights for the season.

"The Day After Christmas" by Melinea Hinchey, Chau Tran, Claire Walker, and Kia Fuller
Second place winners Melinea Hinchey, Chau Tran, Claire Walker, and Kia Fuller from Pryor Middle School painted "The Day After Christmas," which has Santa and his reindeer relaxing on the beach and playing in the water after a hard night's work.
Third place is a tie between two Lewis Middle School paintings, "'Tis The Sea-son" and "Merry Christmas." Each puts Santa in his sleigh as reindeer guide him through the snowy night.
Two other paintings are also being honored. Pryor Middle School's "We Three Fishes" by Melinea Hinchey, Chau Tran, and Claire Walker is the "Most Imaginative." It displays an underwater scene of the three fish kings on their way to "Fishlehem." Lewis Middle School's "Season's Greetings" by Tessa Poindexter and Amanda Lane is the "Best Use of Color." This painting shows a log cabin on a lake next to snow-covered mountains.
All paintings entered into the Holiday on the Harbor Art Contest will be on display in front of the Lucky Snapper during December's Holiday on the Harbor festivities. Christmas cards illustrated by four of last year's winning entries are on sale for $5 at the Destin Area Chamber of Commerce, Pryor Middle School, and on location at the Lucky Snapper during the Holiday on the Harbor Boat Parade.
