Destin, FL, Jan. 16 - While fulfilling its vision of Building a World-Class Community One Business at a Time, the Destin Area Chamber of Commerce touched almost 500,000 people through its Welcome Center, phones, and website during 2006.

     The chamber’s front desk greeted 38,241 people. This included 8,320 visitors to our Welcome Center, 14,240 phone calls, 4,992 requests via mail, 1,681 e-mails, 8,709 vacation brochures mailed, 155 membership directories mailed, and 144 relocation packages mailed.

     The website, located at www.DestinChamber.com, received 456,077 visitors in 2006. The website received approximately 10,000 more visitors in October, November, and December, compared to those same months in 2005.

     “What these numbers reflect is the grand popularity of Destin. It also reflects the impact of the Destin brand on this region. The name ‘Destin’ is related to an entire two-county stretch of beautiful beaches and amenities. Current and future visitors realize we are the center for information, and they use us for that. For our members, the value of being a member of this chamber is invaluable. Where else can you market and advertise your business to 500,000 people for a $300 membership? It proves we are succeeding in building this world-class community!” said Chamber President and CEO Shane Moody.
