Destin, FL, April 16 - On April 13, the Destin Area Chamber of Commerce’s Vice Chairman of Membership Karen McCarthy, Army Aviation Center Federal Credit Union, presented a $1,000 check from the Chamber to Enterprise Schools Superintendent Dr. James Reese.

     “When the tornado hit Enterprise, I felt a sense of loss and helplessness. I lived there for over 21 years. My daughter went to Enterprise High School, and one of my coworkers in Enterprise lost her son. I felt compelled to do something. Communities and people help each other in times of crisis. I spoke with Shane [Moody, Chamber President and CEO] about helping the kids who lost so much, and we decided to raise money for the school,” explained McCarthy. She spearheaded the Chamber’s effort to donate money directly to the Enterprise School System.

     “At the Chamber’s March breakfast, we asked for donations. As people left, their generosity was overwhelming, and it continued until we raised $1,000 by the deadline. Personally, I cannot express how much I greatly appreciate the people of the Chamber for their support and kindness,” said McCarthy.
