Shillingburg wins Seafood Festival Poster Contest for 5th Consecutive Year

     Destin, FL, June 26 - Local watercolor artist Judy Shillingburg has been selected as the 2008 Destin Seafood Festival poster contest winner, which makes her fifth consecutive win and sixth time overall.

     The artwork was voted on by the Seafood Festival Committee and the Destin Area Chamber Board of Directors and staff from among six entries. The chosen design was Shillingburg’s watercolor painting, painted on top of a 1970s chart map.

     “I’m so blessed to be a part of Destin, and, to win the annual Destin Seafood Festival poster contest five years in a row, I couldn’t ask for more!” Shillingburg said.

     Her design features a charter boat coming up on Norriego Point, with Destin’s East Pass in the background. Also in the painting are a marina, heron, and pelican, while shellfish and a dolphin are depicted in the water below. In the left hand corner are two crabs inside a fishing net, representing Crab Island.

     “To be back on the harbor for its 30th year, it couldn’t be any better,” said Shillingburg. “Because if there is one thing I love painting, it is the birds, fish, and boats on the harbor.”

     This year on Oct. 3 - 5, the 30th Annual Seafood Festival will be returning to its original spot on the Destin harbor. More than 25,000 people will pack HarborWalk Village along Destin’s docks to enjoy fresh seafood, live entertainment, arts and crafts booths, children’s activities, and more.
