Ribbon Cutting Celebrates Commons Drive Extension

     Destin, FL, June 10 - On June 1, Destin Area Chamber of Commerce staff and ambassadors gathered to celebrate Commons Drive Extension with a ribbon cutting.

     The Commons Drive Extension Construction Project is complete. Extending Commons from Two Trees Road, where it used to end, over to Airport Road, now gives drivers an alternative to U.S. 98 from Danny Wuerffel Way over to Airport Road. The extension is also expected to ease the traffic jams that used to develop at the Commons/Two Trees, Two Trees/Indian Bayou Trail, and Indian Bayou Trail/Airport Road stop signs during summer tourist season.

     The Commons Drive Extension Construction Project was funded 50% by a Florida TRIP Grant, 25% by Okaloosa County, and 25% by the City of Destin.
