Debut of Northwest Florida Gulf Coast’s Premier Amateur Golf Tournament, the Destin Seafood Festival Golf Classic

     Destin, FL, June 16 - Sept. 11 – 12 marks the debut of Northwest Florida Gulf Coast’s premier amateur golf tournament, the Destin Seafood Festival Golf Classic.

     "With so many golfers in our area we wanted to create something that was different than the normal chamber golf tournament," said Shane Moody, Destin Area Chamber President and CEO. "Those tournaments still have their place, but we wanted something competitive that will give the local golfers something fun, while at the same time hopefully draw golfers from throughout the region that will come in for the weekend.

     The tournament offers a two-person-team, best ball format along the well manicured fairways and greens of Destin’s original course, Indian Bayou Golf Course.

     Two-person teams are $550, which includes two days of tournament play, as well as one practice round, breakfast and lunch each day, and a cocktail party.

     The tournament will be flighted at the completion of Friday’s play. Saturday tee times will be assigned after flighting. Prizes will be awarded in all flights.

     This tournament will begin the celebration of the 31st Annual Destin Seafood Festival, set for Oct. 2-4, on the Destin harbor.

     "We felt tying it to the seafood festival was a perfect fit," said Moody.
