Destin Area Chamber Donates $10,000 to Area Non-Profits

     Destin, FL, Nov. 13 - During its Nov. 13 breakfast meeting, the Destin Area Chamber of Commerce presented $10,000 in donations to area non-profits. The donations were due to the success of the 31st Annual Destin Seafood Festival, the community event of which the Destin Area Chamber is the official organizer.

     “Four years ago, the Chamber decided to make the festival into even more of a community event by allowing Destin area non-profits to volunteer for key roles and providing a donation in return,” said Chamber Vice President of Communications Elizabeth Spies. “Since the program began, this Chamber has donated $53,500 to the local community and the non-profit organizations that serve it.”

     The donations were based upon the number of people and hours each non-profit organization dedicated to assisting in the festival’s token and admission booths. Those organizations receiving donations included Alaqua Animal Refuge, Inc.; Boy Scouts Troop 504; Children in Crisis, Inc.; Children’s Volunteer Health Network; Covenant Hospice; Destin Fire Rescue Foundation, Inc.; Destin Garden Club; Destin Harvest; Destin History & Fishing Museum; Destin Woman’s Club; Emerald Coast Association of Realtors; Emerald Coast Marine Institute; Junior League of the Emerald Coast; Kiwanis Club of Destin; Habitat for Humanity, Okaloosa County; Emerald Coast Parrot Head Club; Ronald McDonald House; Destin Rotary Club; Sinfonia Gulf Coast; and the Wildlife Rehabilitators Partnership of NW Florida.
