Ribbon Cutting Celebrates Groundbreaking for Scenic Highway 98 Phase III Improvement Project
![]() Destin, FL, Nov. 24 - On Nov. 16, Destin Area Chamber of Commerce staff and ambassadors gathered at James Lee Park for a ribbon cutting to celebrate the groundbreaking for Scenic Highway 98 Phase III Improvement Project.
This is the third and final phase of the bicycle, pedestrian, and repaving improvements to Scenic 98 in Crystal Beach. Phase III construction funds budgeted from the last two fiscal years, and federal stimulus money will complete the amenities from Tarpon Street to the Okaloosa/Walton County line. The pathway will create the first regional (multi-jurisdictional) continuous pedestrian pathway system and will be a total of 4.9 miles long, upon completion of the Phase III segment, with two miles in Destin.
