Danny Wuerffel to Speak at Chamber Banquet

     Destin, FL, Jan. 11 - Heisman Trophy Winner and founder of Desire Street Ministries Danny Wuerffel will share insights about Focusing Outward: Living A Balanced Life during the Destin Area Chamber of Commerce's Annual Awards & Installation Banquet, to be held Friday, Jan. 22, 2010, at the Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa.

     Wuerffel graduated as valedictorian of Fort Walton Beach High School, and he went on to play football for the University of Florida, the New Orleans Saints, the Green Bay Packers, the Chicago Bears, and the Washington Redskins. In 2004, he retired from professional football to work fulltime with Desire Street Ministries, which he founded to work within the Ninth Ward of New Orleans. Wuerffel is a popular speaker, sharing how his experiences playing football have helped shape his life. He has written one book, Danny Wuerffel’s Tales from the Gator Swamp: Reflections of Faith and Football.

     During the event, the Chamber will also present its most prestigious awards, including the Business Person of the Year Award, the Jim Darling Seafood Festival Volunteer of the Year Award, the James D. Neilson, Sr., Chairman’s Award for Volunteer Service, the Paul Woolman Ambassador of the Year Award, and the Ann Gibson Community Service Award.
