Chamber to Present More Than $2,800 to Fishermen’s Fund

     Destin, FL, May 20 - During its May 21 Sunset on the Harbor event, the Destin Area Chamber of Commerce will present a check for $2,868.36 to the Destin Fishermen’s Fund.

     “The fishermen have been hit from every direction from astronomical fuel prices to fishery closures and now the oil spill, which has the potential to put them out of business indefinitely. The Chamber received these funds when it took over the Destin Harbor Association, and the Harbor Association and the Chamber want to show their support of the local fishermen by making this donation,” explained Chamber Board Member Mary Anne Windes, Real Estate Professionals of Destin and Destin Fishing Fleet Marina.

     The check will be used to help any of the mates that may need assistance during this time.
