Designed for elected officials and municipal employees alike; this FREE training will cover social media, public records and guide attendees to a fuller understanding of the practical challenges and legal obligations (and likely obligations) for municipal officials and employees participating in social media activity related to their municipality in light of both the requirements of the 1st Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and the State of Florida’s public meetings and public records laws.
The training will take place on Thursday, Jan. 30, at Destin City Hall, located at 4200 Indian Bayou Trail. The first session is from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and the second session is from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. This training is open to the public and more than one councilmember may be in attendance.
