Destin Chamber's Tourism Industry Interest Group: Focus on Ecotourism with Alex Fogg, Okaloosa County Tourist Development

• Learn more about the artificial reef program and Fish Aggregating Devices (FADs), both of which are designed to attract and to  provide essential habitat for a number of fish species heavily targeted by charter and recreational anglers. 
• Discover how the invasive lionfish problem was turned into an opportunity through creation of the largest lionfish specific tournament and festival, the Emerald Coast Open. 
• Finally, hear about a number of smaller initiatives, including water quality testing using citizen scientists, beach cleanups, and sea turtle lighting.

Anyone involved in a tourism-related business or with an interest in area tourism is welcome to attend. Registration is due by 5 p.m., on Monday, Jan. 13.

The Tourism Committee's mission is to bring value to the Destin tourism community through training and information and to become a unified voice of hospitality-based businesses whose success is centered on the tourism industry in our area.  

The cost is $25 for Destin Chamber members and $50 for non-chamber members. Registration is required, and no shows will be billed!
