Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast invites you to attend a Diabetes Self-Management class on Wednesday, Mar. 20, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The class is held monthly and open to adults diagnosed with type 2 diabetes who are looking for ways to manage their disease. A primary care or endocrinology physician referral and pre-registration is required to attend.
Led by Anne Townley, certified diabetes educator and registered dietician and Linsey Hall, RN, diabetes educator, participants will learn ideal monitoring techniques, medication management and nutrition to reduce symptoms, lifestyle modifications necessary to control their condition and solving problems that can get in the way of healthy changes.
“Type 2 diabetes is a condition which affects a third of all American adults, so the need for education and effective self-management has never been more important,” said Anne Townley. “The Diabetes Self-Management program offers an evidence-based approach to managing type 2 diabetes through modest lifestyle changes made with proper knowledge and the support of one’s peers.”
Classes are held in the Suite 1 Education Building at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast at 7800 U.S. Hwy. 98 West, Miramar Beach, FL 32550. To register for the class or for more information, please call the diabetes educators at (850) 278-3683.
