The Friends Guild of the Destin Library will sponsor an afternoon presentation entitled “Civil Rights – How Far Have We Come.”
The program will focus on life in Birmingham, Alabama in 1963 at the time of the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing which inspired the electrifying speech by attorney Charles Morgan Jr.
Moderators for the program are: Pam Horowitz – Morgan’s former law associate, current board member of the Southern Poverty Law Center; and wife of civil rights icon Julian Bond, Camille Morgan – wife of the late Charles Morgan Jr. and local resident; and Charles Morgan III – son of Morgan, and well-known area restaurateur.
