ABOUT THE BAND: Duchess is a dynamic, energetic classic rock band from Florida’s Emerald Coast. They cover the great hitmakers of the seventies and eighties interjecting a contemporary feel and freshness that makes them unique among bands in their genre. Doug Bowers and Chuck Tidwell, both decades-long music veterans, started playing together along the Emerald Coast in the mid-2000s. They released two classic rock and blues-inspired albums as The Walk. During the recording sessions for their second album, they brought in singer Lauren Duke who made a lasting impression. Several years later, the idea of putting a performing band back together was discussed inviting Lauren to front the band (something she had never done before). Bassist Nate Kuwitski and drummer (and high school senior), Ryan Rassmussen, were invited to join the trio and Duchess was born. Ryan left the following year to pursue music full-time in Nashville with veteran drummer Tony Gorrell seamlessly filling the vacated drum throne.
Musically, Duchess covers the more difficult of some of classic rock’s greatest hits.
The crux of their popularity, however, is their live shows. State-of-the-art sound and lighting effects amplify their engaging stage presence and the response of their fans just fuels the fire ensuring everyone has the best experience possible.
Duchess achieved an incredible honor in 2020 winning the United Way Emerald Coast’s virtual singing competition fundraiser, Rock United. Competing against 29 other local artists over a two-month period, they came out on top.
