United Way Emerald Coast has partnered with the Okaloosa County School District and Walton County School District to ‘stuff the bus’ with school supplies, ensuring every local student has the tools they need to be successful this year. All donated supplies will be distributed to students in Okaloosa and Walton counties, targeting schools with the greatest need where many students would otherwise lack necessary supplies. In 2020, UWEC’s school supply drive distributed supplies to 14 local schools, impacting over 7,000 students.
The Stuff the Bus collection event will be held on July 31, from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Okaloosa County Schools’ busses will be stationed in the parking lot of the Walmart locations in Crestview, Fort Walton Beach, and Niceville. Several local businesses are hosting collection boxes and virtual giving options are available now through July 30. A full list of giving options, including drop-off locations and Amazon wish lists for specific schools, can be found at united-way.org/schoolsupplies.
