DESCRIPTION:In 2021\, Ladies Who Launch is continuing its Powerhouse Women Series\, highlighting impactful women in our community. On Sept. 28\, Teresa Halverson\, Director of Marketing & Admissions at The Manor at Bluewater Bay\, will share her experience as a healthcare management professional of more than 30 years\, military spouse and military mom\, while serving the community. \n\n\n\nTeresa received a degree in social work from the University of Nevada at Las Vegas. Licensed in several states as a Social Worker\, she has served as a Director of Social Services in a sub-acute rehab hospital\, Director of Case Management\, and Executive Director of a Home Health Agency. \n\n\n\nA military spouse with frequent moves\, including five years in the Philippine Islands\, she continued to pursue her career and manage the homefront\, while her husband Bob served our country in the F-15E as a Weapons Systems Officer. When her husband was a squadron commander\, Teresa continued career growth\, while raising their only son Garret\, who is now married and serving as an F-18 Pilot with the US Marine Corps.\n\n\n\nCurrently in her role at the Manor\, Teresa oversees the admissions process\, while promoting the high quality services the staff provides to the community residents. The Manor's goal is to provide quality care and help post hospital residents return home as soon and safe as possible. It was recently named "BEST SENIOR CARE FACILITY" by VIP Destin Magazine.\n\n\n\nIn addition to her career and family\, Teresa serves on multiple community boards. She is the immediate past chair of the Niceville Valparaiso Chamber of Commerce\, Past Chair of the Fisher House of the Emerald Coast where she served two unprecedented terms\, Chairman of the Board for the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation\, Current Board Member for the Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber\, Chairman of the Niceville Senior Center Foundations\, Executive Board Member of the White-Wilson Foundation\, and a member of the Destin Chamber. Teresa continues to serve on three different military affairs organizations. She has served as an honorary commander for the 53rd Wing at Eglin AFB and the 505th Training Squadron at Hurlburt Field\, and she is the current honorary commander with the 4th Battalion\, 7th Special Forces Group. As a testament of her servant leadership\, Teresa was nominated and inducted into the Okaloosa County Commission on Women's Hall of Fame in 2020.\n\n\n\nAside from her career and volunteer roles\, Teresa is a local artist\, specializing in the Emerald Coast Glass Beveled Beach boxes and custom jewelry. Her artwork can can be found in local galleries\, including Artful Things\, The Destin Pearl\, and Lilly Pads.\n\n\n\nLadies Who Launch\, a committee of the Destin Chamber\, offers the Chamber's female membership a platform for strategic networking and relationship building\, while training\, motivating and inspiring those members. \n\n\n\nThere is no cost to attend this event\, but space is limited\, and registration is required.
