    Job Description
    JOB CLASSIFICATION: Full-time, Non-exempt (32-40 hrs/week)
    REPORTS TO: Director of Development
    HOURLY RATE: $15-17/hr.

    The Development & Engagement Coordinator’s primary responsibilities are strengthening donor engagement through volunteerism and ensuring organizational effectiveness by overseeing the database systems. S/he will develop and manage a variety of data sets that support the objectives of retention and growth of United Way donors and volunteers. The Development & Engagement Coordinator will also support the relationships and logistics associated with implementing United Way’s annual events and engagement opportunities including, but not limited to, ReadingPals, Cram the Van, and Days of Caring. This position must have the ability to manage data and volunteers, and work collaboratively across departments within the organization.

    Key Areas Of Responsibility
    • Work closely with development and finance staff in carrying out essential duties and responsibilities related to campaign and donor management.
    • Recruit and engage individual donors and corporate partners in UWEC’s volunteer efforts.
    • Provide necessary reports to the finance staff and assist in reconciling data between the pledge processing database and the general ledger (proper reconciliation of revenue, restricted pledges receivable and collection amounts).
    • Understand the role digital technology plays in acquiring, engaging and retaining donors and seek to utilize it to create incredible user experiences to positively impact fundraising results.
    • Administer the gift acknowledgement process for all donors; ensure thank you letters are updated annually to refresh tone and reflect current messaging.
    • Strategically implement and lead direct mail fundraising campaigns to maintain existing donors and acquire new ones throughout the year.
    • Manage churn list and lead mail-outs to lapsed donors.
    • Support Director of Development in creating and executing fundraising events and campaigns as needed.
    • Ensure that designation payouts are prepared in the pledge system timely and accurately based on policies.
    • Support communication with corporate workplace volunteers and donors. Prepare materials for trainings, workplace captain meetings, and campaigns. Deliver or pick-up materials as appropriate.
    • Work with corporate, government, non-profit and education sectors to promote volunteerism and service.
    • Plan and execute large-scale annual Day of Caring event. Solicit individual volunteers and workplace serve teams to support the submitted projects.
    • Track, monitor, and report on volunteer hours and outreach efforts.
    • Coordinate and oversee ReadingPals program, provide and analyze data for grant funder(s), ensuring application and reporting deadlines are met. Solicit and manage program volunteers. Deliver or pick-up materials as appropriate.
    • Coordinate and supervise office volunteers.
    Additional Responsibilities

    • Participate in professional development opportunities as related to the duties of the position.
    • Assist with the organization’s disaster response efforts, when necessary.
    • Assist with other projects as assigned.
    Minimum Knowledge & Skills Required
    • Understand and demonstrate commitment to the mission, vision, and direction of UWEC.
    • Associates degree and at least 2 years of related experience.
    • Ability to pass a Level 2 background screening to support vulnerable populations.
    • Prior database, fundraising experience and/or work in the non-profit sector preferred. Volunteer management a plus.
    • Working knowledge of accounting and database software. Ability to learn other applications including donor management software. Proficient in Microsoft Office with emphasis on Excel.
    • Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills.
    • People-oriented with a track record of service to the community.
    • Initiative in planning and developing new opportunities to increase UWEC’s impact and meet community needs.
    • Ability to learn tasks quickly and work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Flexible to change; proven ability to manage multiple high-priority projects and deadlines without compromising quality.
    • Ability to work respectfully and inclusively with a diverse population and multiple stakeholders.
    • Drivers’ license and reliable vehicle, or equivalent ability to travel within a 2-county region.
