Ascension Sacred Heart Recognized for Support of Tissue Donation
Ascension Sacred Heart is the recipient of the Award of Excellence from LifeNet Health, which coordinates with hospitals to honor gifts of tissue donation. These donations help save lives, improve the quality of life and give hope to many in Northwest Florida.
During 2019, Ascension Sacred Heart increased its number of tissue donations by 9 percent — impacting even more lives. A total of 106 individuals in Northwest Florida became tissue donors through Ascension Sacred Heart’s support.
As a result, LifeNet Health was able to provide as many as 10,600 tissue grafts to patients in our local communities and throughout the U.S. Ascension Sacred Heart also supports LifeNet Health’s Donor Family Services program, which provides comfort and support to hundreds of families in Northwest Florida.
“I want to thank our frontline caregivers at our participating hospitals for the important role they play in supporting families who make these life-giving decisions on behalf of their loved ones,” said Terrie Fontenot, chief nursing officer, Ascension Florida and Gulf Coast. “They are crucial to the success of this effort. We are proud of this award and privileged that we can help so many individuals and families.”
Executive leaders at all Ascension Sacred Heart facilities in Pensacola, Miramar Beach, Panama City and Port St. Joe provide instrumental support for LifeNet Health’s mission of saving lives, restoring health and giving hope.
