Boomers Parks’ Big Kahuna’s Water and Adventure Park hosted a grand re-opening joint ribbon cutting on May 14, showcasing park updates implemented by the new ownership Cerberus. Local VIPs, community dignitaries, and the media were in attendance. Shane Moody, President and CEO of Destin Chamber, Ted Corcoran, President and CEO of Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber and Megan Harrison, President and CEO of Walton Area Chamber addressed the 80 plus attendees. CEO Tim Murphy also spoke about how proud he is of his team’s efforts to enhance the park and how the overall goal is to re-establish Big Kahuna’s as a destination location in Destin. The Big Kahuna’s new senior leadership team revealed the $800,000 capital improvements made to both the Water and Adventure Parks. Attendees received tours of the newly renovated park and sampled new menu items such as the Korean BBQ Beef Sliders, Korean BBQ Chicken Salad, Nashville Hot Chicken Sliders and Nashville Hot Chicken Salad.
“My team was really excited to showcase the many improvements made to the park and enjoyed providing VIP tours of the immense efforts we have put into every attraction and other areas within Big Kahunas,” said Brandon Moore, Regional Operations Director. “It was great to have the opportunity to interact with the local community. We were excited to receive so much positive feedback from the local community and we look forward to being more involved with them for years to come.”
Big Kahuna’s team also spoke about their commitment to the community to create new seasonal and full-time jobs with increased wages, hiring incentives, and job perks. The new management said their focus is on improving safety measures, enhancing team member training, and elevating the overall guest experience. Guests can expect more value than ever before with over 40 refurbished and upgraded attractions, new food items and outdoor dining options, as well as full-alcoholic beverages and more.
Big Kahuna’s Water Park is the largest water park on the Emerald Coast and boasts more than 40 water attractions, slides, and rides offering a full day of fun for the whole family. The adjacent Adventure Park features Tropical Golf, a refurbished 54-hole golf course, and other entertaining attractions such as: the Cyclone Twister, Sky Coaster, and the Honolulu Half Pipe for thrill seekers to fly through the sky, twist and turn through the air and surf on land. Big Kahuna’s Water and Adventure Park are both currently open for daily operations.
