Last fall, the Destin Library received a generous CARES Act grant from The Institute of Museum and Library Services, which was used toward technology. If you haven't been to the library in a while (yes, they are open!) now is a great time to visit and see all the exciting changes.

The library has always had public access computers, but they have now added a Tablet Station with six Samsung tablets that library cardholders can use anywhere in the library. Check out a tablet at the station then curl up in one of the library's comfy chairs to read the news or play a game with your toddler on the floor in the Children's Area. Then, simply return the tablet to the station when you are done.

The new Self-Service Kiosk located by the circulation desk allows library cardholders to conveniently check out items for themselves. Scan your library card and place your items on the RFID pad to check out. This Self-Service Kiosk also makes printing from the public computers even easier as there are now fewer steps involved to access your print jobs.

The Institute of Museum and Library Services is the primary source of federal support for the nation's libraries and museums. They advance, support, and empower America's museums, libraries, and related organizations through grantmaking, research, and policy development. Their vision is a nation where museums and libraries work together to transform the lives of individuals and communities. To learn more, visit www.imls.gov and follow them on Facebook and Twitter.
