HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital Celebrates $100 Million Expansion

In response to Northwest Florida’s growing healthcare needs, HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital celebrated today the completion of the first phase of its $100 million expansion, which includes a new four-story, 95,000-square-foot patient tower and 10,000-square-foot renovated dietary space.

This phase of the expansion adds 10 ICU beds, eight cardiovascular ICU beds and 24 surgical care beds – increasing the hospital’s capacity from 267 to 309 beds – and enhancing the array of high-quality services HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital has provided in the Tri-County area for nearly 50 years, while allowing for further expansions in the future.

“HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital is committed to continuing our work to meet the needs of this growing community,” CEO, Zach McCluskey, said. “We wanted our facility to reflect the enormous talents of our colleagues. By equipping our team with the latest technologies in an updated, modern space, we hope to provide a more healing environment for our team and the people we serve.”

Earlier today, HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital celebrated the expansion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and tours of the newly-completed spaces. The Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce, the Destin Chamber of Commerce, the Walton Area Chamber of Commerce and various community leaders were in attendance.

In March, HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital, formerly Fort Walton Beach Medical Center, joined more than 450 affiliated sites of care across the state to become HCA Florida Healthcare, part of the larger HCA Healthcare network.
