Northwest Florida Ballet Announces 22/23 Season

The Northwest Florida Ballet (NFB) 2022-2023 season is set to include four incredible world-class productions, including two main stage productions at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center featuring the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra and two free outdoor performances. 
 
NFB’s 53rd season kicks off with The Ugly Duckling, performed by Lightwire Theater on Sat., Oct. 1, at 7:30 p.m. in Grand Boulevard at Sandestin’s Grand Park. This audience favorite brings a classic tale to the modern stage in an unforgettable theatrical experience. Lined with electroluminescent wire, the beloved story of The Ugly Duckling plays out on stage through a cutting-edge blend of puppetry, technology and dance. With dazzling visuals, poignant choreography and the creative use of music ranging from classical to pop, this free outdoor production brings this story into a new and brilliant light. Lightwire Theater has been featured as semi-finalists on NBC's America's Got Talent and winners of Tru TV's Fake Off. 
 
Next, NFB takes center stage at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center Fri. and Sat., Nov. 18 and 19, at 7:30 p.m. and Sun., Nov. 20, at 2:30 p.m. for the 43rd annual production of The Nutcracker. As the only full-length version of this classic holiday fairytale in the area, NFB’s The Nutcracker features a cast of more than 140 performers, including international guest artists and over 100 local children. The Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra, led by NFB Music Director and Conductor David Ott, will provide musical accompaniment for all public performances. A VIP party will be held immediately following the performance on Nov. 18 exclusively for season subscribers, cast, staff and special guests. 
 
NFB returns to the Mattie Kelly Arts Center stage in the spring on Sat., March 11, at 7:30 p.m. and Sun., March 12, at 2:30 p.m. for a trip to Neverland with Peter Pan. Complete with magical sets and mesmerizing costumes, NFB’s production includes a cast of international guest artists and company members who will take audiences on a spectacular journey in this two-act production. Led by NFB Artistic Director and CEO Todd Eric Allen, the creative team includes the ballet’s choreographer Katia Garza and scenery projection designer Israel Rodriguez. NFB Music Director David Ott will conduct the talented musicians of the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra, providing live musical accompaniment for Peter Pan. A VIP party exclusively for season subscribers, cast, staff and special guests will also occur immediately following the March 11 performance. 
 
The season concludes at Grand Boulevard with NFB’s annual free community performance, Ballet at Twilight, on Sat., June 24, at 7:30 p.m. This unique production features the artists of NFB with international guest artists performing a mix of contemporary, neoclassical and classical pieces from guest choreographers and the NFB repertoire in a casual outdoor atmosphere. Ballet at Twilight is presented as part of Grand Boulevard’s Coastal Culture series, made possible by the Grand Boulevard Arts & Entertainment Program.

Season subscriptions will be available beginning Tues., Aug. 30, and include tickets to The Nutcracker and Peter Pan for $76 per adult and $35 per child (12 and under), a savings of more than 15% compared to box office prices. Patrons are also eligible to purchase tickets to the VIP parties for $25 each and receive a 10% discount for additional performance tickets when buying a season subscription.
