Patients in need of orthopedic care, as well as neck and back surgery, now have expanded access to care across Northwest Florida.
This new program brings together providers from throughout the community to provide patients with advanced, personalized, comprehensive and cost-effective musculoskeletal care, with surgeries performed at Ascension Sacred Heart hospitals in Miramar Beach, Panama City and Pensacola, as well as outpatient surgery centers across the region.
Performance Orthopedics and Spine launched in Jacksonville in the fall of 2020 and is a collaboration between Ascension Florida and Gulf Coast and Healthcare Outcomes Performance Company (HOPCo).
“The Performance Orthopedics and Spine brand unifies and aligns the most outstanding orthopedic surgeons and neurosurgeons exclusively at Ascension Sacred Heart around a truly unique and innovative care delivery and medical economics platform,” said Tom VanOsdol (pictured here), president and CEO of Ascension Florida and Gulf Coast. “We’ve done the research and know that Northwest Florida has needed a model partnership like Performance Orthopedics and Spine for decades, and Ascension Sacred Heart is dedicated to bringing the best musculoskeletal care available anywhere in the world to the individuals and families of the panhandle, right here at home. This new innovation dramatically improves care, quality, convenience and value for those we are so blessed to serve.”
HOPCo is a leading provider of musculoskeletal outcomes, value-based healthcare solutions and care coordination for practices, payors and health systems across the country.
“We are honored to continue working to build the next generation of transformative musculoskeletal care for patients across Florida. We began with this model with Ascension St. Vincent’s in Jacksonville and the response has been overwhelming,” said Wael Barsoum, MD, president and chief transformation officer at HOPCo. “Our work with partners in many regions across the United States has demonstrated the collective value of creating alignment between hospitals, physicians and payors in the musculoskeletal space.”
The Performance Orthopedics and Spine team manages a clinically integrated network (CIN) of musculoskeletal physician practices throughout north Florida. Clinically integrated networks allow providers to streamline care for their patients, which has been proven to result in improved outcomes and lower costs for both patients and insurers.
