During the Destin Chamber’s April 9 Business Before Hours, Okaloosa County Airports Director Tracy Stage was honored with the Chamber’s Business Person of the Month Award.
This award is presented directly from the Chamber’s Board of Directors to a Destin area businessperson showing vision for his or her business and leadership in our community.
“What has happened at Okaloosa County Airports since Tracy took over as director has been amazing. The number of direct destinations to our area has added ease of travel for many visitors. The overall impact of job creation, tax dollar generation and the fastest growing airport in the United States are all things that we couldn’t have imagined 15 years ago,” explained Chamber President & CEO Shane A. Moody, CCE, FCCP. “He’s done a tremendous job. It’s a pleasure to work with him.”
In 2020, Stage and his team created a statement to help them navigate the pandemic, “Maintaining service levels, competing and rebounding through financial strength and resilience with the highest of standards.” Now serving 50 cities with direct flights through Allegiant, American Airlines, Delta, United, and recently announced Southwest, the team at Destin – Fort Walton Beach Airport (VPS) is achieving its goal and doing so safely. Earlier this year, VPS achieved the Global Biorisk Advisory Council® (GBAC) STAR™ accreditation, the gold standard for prepared facilities. Under the guidance of GBAC, a Division of ISSA, the worldwide cleaning industry association, the Destin – Fort Walton Beach Airport has implemented the most stringent protocols for cleaning, disinfection and infectious disease prevention in its airport.
