USCG Auxiliary, Eighth Coastal Region, Division 1, Winter Meeting

The USCG Auxiliary, Eighth Coastal Region, Division 1, Winter Meeting was held at the Northwest Florida State College in Niceville. The Division 1 meeting began with the invocation by Duane Treadon. In attendance was COMO Chuck Maricle, DCAPT-E Barry Fox, DCDR Dan Berry and Flotilla Commanders/Staff from Pensacola Destin and Panama City.

Flotilla Commanders briefed the Division and guests on their goals for 2020. Doug Richie from Coast Guard Station Destin talked about his first year as a member while Mike McBride lead a discussion on the Sea Scouts. COMO Chuck Maricle talked about District leadership and Don Kittmiller informed the Auxiliarist of opportunity’s to serve on Coast Guard vessels. Coast Guard LT. Brent Walker was on hand to provide an update on Sector Mobile. There was an election held for Division Commander and Division Vice Commander. Dan Berry was elected to Division Commander and Sheresa Waller was elected to Division Vice Commander.

Division meetings provide members a chance to get acquainted with leadership, learn more about how to enhance their skills, and increase members awareness of Auxiliary activities. The next meeting will be held June 20, hosted by Flotilla 19.
