During the Destin Chamber’s May 13 Business Before Hours on the Beach Sponsored by Destin-Fort Walton Beach, Wendy and Steve Wilson, former owners of the Southern Star Dolphin Cruise and Buccaneer Pirate Cruise, were honored with the Chamber’s Business Persons of the Month Award. This award is presented directly from the Chamber’s Board of Directors to a Destin area businessperson showing vision for his or her business and leadership in our community.
“When you look at the people who have worked so hard over the years to make Destin great, Steve and Wendy have to be near the top of that list. What they have given in time, effort, community support and business growth has been tremendous. They don’t just live here and work here, they supported Destin in more ways that anyone would know. Their love of God, family and community are their greatest strengths. It’s no wonder they have been successful business people. That success is a result of everything else they’ve done here,” explained Chamber President & CEO Shane A. Moody, CCE, FCCP.
Owners of the Southern Star Dolphin Cruise for almost 30 years and the Buccaneer Pirate Cruise for 10 years, the Wilsons sold the business to Chenmark earlier this year, and new CEO Sean Joy took his position in February. Chenmark and Joy plan to continue the Wilsons’ legacy of community involvement and support.
