Earlier this year, St. Joe and the Walton County School District created “Read to Feed” to benefit Food For Thought Outreach. Students at the county’s elementary schools were encouraged to read independently and test their retention by taking accelerated reader tests in the classroom. Food for Thought has been forced to cut back on the amount of food going into bags for the rest of the school year due to the impacts of inflation and food costs. Instead of 13 items, the bags now contain six items, in an effort to manage the 40% increase in costs. The Alys Foundation wants to help! The 7th Annual Stock the Pantry Fundraiser, which was held virtually this year, raised $204,573, exceeding Food for Thought Outreach's goal by $53K. Henderson Park Inn is partnering with local non-profit, Food For Thought, to virtually stock the pantry for the 2020 school year with a monetary donations in lieu of physical food donations. Food For Thought Outreach received a generous donation from Isagenix®, a global health and wellness company providing nutrition and lifestyle solutions, through the efforts and the help of Jim and Tammy Pierce. We are grateful for the Isagenix donation (retail value of $55,000), which will provide 6,700 meals and enough smoothie mix for over 6,400 smoothies.
