On Saturday, Feb. 27, over 2,000 people packed the Destin Harbor for the 2nd Annual Shrimp & Grits Festival. The second-year event is back and again, hosted by Brotula’s Seafood House & Steamer, highlighting local restaurants and chef’s spanning from Fort Walton Beach to 30A all to benefit the local Boys & Girls Clubs of the Emerald Coast. Café Thirty-A held its annual Charity Ball on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021 at the restaurant. After being rescheduled from the original December date, the winter event raised a record-breaking total of $35,564 for Caring and Sharing of South Walton, an organization that provides food and financial assistance to area families and individuals in need. The 7th Annual Stock the Pantry Fundraiser, which was held virtually this year, raised $204,573, exceeding Food for Thought Outreach's goal by $53K. Amidst COVID 19, Shelter House has hired Rachelle Wyatt, a 2019 graduate of Florida State University, as the Program and Volunteer Coordinator. With her background in Hospitality, Wyatt will lead efforts in recruiting and coordinating volunteers for the various Shelter House events and donation drives. Wyatt comes from a background of event planning and coordination in the Destin and Fort Walton Beach area.
