Students, grades k-6 will experience hands-on activities and something new each day about the heritage and culture of Northwest Florida with special presentations from community partners. Monday: Treasures of the Past FPAN (FL Public Archaeology Network)
Discover the difference between archaeology and paleontology.
Create your own fossils, excavate a cookie, and create a pendant.
Tuesday: What’s in Our Waters? CBA (Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance & Officer Snook)
Learn about some of the creatures who live in our waters, and how to help prevent water pollution.
Conduct a water tank experiment, touch some underwater creatures, an ocean in a bottle.
Wednesday: Modern Pioneers HMNWF (Heritage Museum of Northwest Florida)
Find out what life was like during pioneer times while trying your hand at some pioneer crafts.
Learn to weave using a piece of cardboard, and make ice cream, soap and old fashioned toys.
Thursday: Adventures in “Paradise Gardens” Valparaiso Garden Club
Explore the wonders of the Museum’s pollinator garden.
Observe pollinators, dissect a flower, create geometric butterflies, and more.
Friday: Planes, Trains and Automobiles Air Force Armament Museum
Discover the marvels of modern transportation.
Create a train that moves with magnets, race a paper airplane, and build your own rubber-band racecar.
