The Art of Batik and Silk painting with Jessica

This 2-hour class is designed to teach the basics of using the batik art form to create a 10×10 floral painting on silk. This is intended as a beginner class for adults, no experience required. You will learn how to stretch your silk, draw using hot wax and a traditional tjanting tool, as well as paint with silk dyes. The instructor will show you examples of how you can use your finished piece as mounted wall art or as fiber art. An explanation of how the dyes are steam set and set with dye fixative will be given. However, this process is done by the instructor outside of class for students. Finished pieces will be sent to each student after the process is complete. Students will receive their finished work within 3-4 days.
